Tapani Kiiski, Chair of Orfer’s Board of Directors, brings decades of experience from the international industrial sector. Before joining Orfer’s board, Tapani held various R&D leadership roles at Kone and later at Konecranes, including serving as Chief Technology Officer (1985–2002).

In 2002, he moved to Raute as Senior Vice President of Sales and Technology, and two years later he was appointed President and CEO of the publicly listed company. Tapani led Raute for 18 years, and after stepping down in spring 2022, he has focused on board positions—Orfer being one of the first.

Reflecting on his previous roles, Tapani emphasizes two key drivers of successful business: understanding client needs and using data to support decision-making.

“The most important thing in almost any business is understanding client’s needs, focusing on them, and finding the right solution,”

he explains.

What motivates Tapani in his work at Orfer is the company’s ability to deliver tangible equipment and complete systems that truly benefit clients by improving efficiency, productivity, and ergonomics.

As Orfer has built a solid base of references and proven expertise in its home market, the next step is to strengthen its presence in international markets. According to Tapani, the key to success lies in being proactive.

Although born in Turku, Tapani grew up in Valkeakoski and today lives in Hyvinkää. To balance his professional responsibilities, he spends his free time at his summer cottage in Nastola, where he enjoys relaxation and a variety of activities.

Tapani’s closing message is down-to-earth:

“This is about doing the work. Everyone must do their job well and understand how it enables their colleagues and clients to succeed. No rocket science is needed.”
